Time Flies!

Sometimes I am amazed at how quickly the weeks can fly by.  This makes me ponder on how I want to use my time more wisely and to fill it with WORK.
What good is any day you have been given if you don't make good use of it??

and here's something else that I have really been pondering lately... even though I know you've heard it before, it's just something that is making a lot of sense to me lately and is something I need to incorporate into my life.

I need to choose to be happy each day.  Life is really boring, in fact, it kinda sucks, if you don't choose to enjoy it.  No matter what happens, there is always something to be grateful for and something to bring you happiness.  No you will not be happy when so and so happens or when so and so is over.  The time to be happy is now.  One of my favourite quotes is from Jeffrey R. Holland: "No misfortune is so bad that whining about it won't make it worse."

Now, I'm not really all that deep as you might think, but I do think a lot.  Lucky for you that is all of my musings that I will put you through today.

General Conference was the weekend before last.  It was something that I was really looking forward to this year.  I guess I really needed the spiritual boost.  Aiden was very cooperative on Saturday and not so cooperative on Sunday, so not too bad altogether.  In case you were wondering... my favourite talks were Pres. Monson's talk on Gratitude, goes along with what I was saying earlier.  D. Todd Christofferson's he talked about consecrating ourselves and how wholesome leisure sometimes takes hard work, not sitting on the couch and flipping on a show (very easy but not usually very wholesome).  I could go on, there are little jewels of info from every talk, but I think those two are the ones that I reflect on the most.

Thanksgiving was last weekend. DELICIOUS.  If you know me, you know that I love food.  So of course I had a great time.  I did try out a new recipe on my family "killer cranberry chutney" and I think it actually almost killed my sister-in-law.  It wasn't very yummy, well maybe just a tad too strong.  Unfortunately, Diana didn't realize that it was a substitute for cranberry sauce and was meant to go with the turkey, she took a big old bite of just chutney!  Hence, her almost dying from it.  She didn't really spare my feelings letting me know it wasn't very yummy :) This same weekend I went to the temple with the youth from our ward (I am currently a young women's leader and loving it).  It was great to be in the temple again, I do miss being so close, it is a great blessing and luxury.
I also learned last weekend that people read this little blog.  YAY.

Now here's a little of what I have been up to at home lately:
My very first apple pie!  Completely from scratch.

Bulletin board that I made.  Used a shirt that didn't fit me to cover the cork board.

And here is a recent picture of where I am at with my dresser refinishing project.  I probably should have stopped here.  Painted antique white, pictures don't really do it justice, but it was just a little boring for me.

But is a little sneak peak of where I am going with the dressers, working at a more antique look.  Aren't you so excited to see the finished product?? I know I am!!  I have no idea what I am doing but I am learning lots as I go.  I really like how the handles turned out with a new coat of paint!  Hopefully in the end it will all turn out ok, nonetheless, I am enjoying myself.

One of these days, I will post about something other than myself.  Look forward to a family post soon!
