Before another weekend is upon us, I want to blog about our past weekend and the fun time we had.
We were lucky enough to be able to take advantage of the long weekend. With Matt having Thursday off and a meeting in Lethbridge on Friday we quickly decided to drive down to Lethbridge on Wednesday night when Matt's meeting for that night was cancelled. (we were planning on leaving Thursday morning).
We made it to Welling after a short 2 hour drive - it still isn't getting old!! How we love living in Calgary instead of Edmonton! We stayed up late chatting with Byron and Sheila and Jed around the kitchen table. We love the late night chats!
Thursday was remembrance day. We lazed around the house all morning and then finally got our act together right in time to make it to the Ceremony at the Raymond Cenotaph. It was great, we really enjoyed it. We headed back to Welling. Byron and others were out working on the farm, Byron was determined to finish all the combining that day. So Matt went out to help. He figured out he hadn't been combining since shortly after his mission so he was a little timid at first but got right back into the groove and then we couldn't get him off the combine. He ended up finishing the last swath. What an honor!!!! :) Aiden and I spent a bit of time out on the combine with him and we had a lot of fun. I even got to play the role of a farmer's wife a bit and take Matt his supper out on the field.
Friday, Matt had his meeting in Lethbridge so we drove in together and I dropped him off and then went and surprised my sister-in-law Diana at home, she took me out to see their new place being built - It's going to be a beauty! and then I went to surprise my sister Kerry at home, she wasn't there but Aiden was sleeping so I just parked in her driveway and waited. Right as Aiden woke up and I was contemplating heading to the mall, she drove up. Good timing!
Next I phoned my parents - asked if they wanted visitors- and they did (of course!) So Matt and I headed to the Pass. My parents introduced us to Battle of the Blades and introduced Matt to the Phil Silvers Show. Matt loves Phil Silvers now. He beginning to appreciate my love of old TV shows and maybe he will begin to like my old music too :)
Saturday, not too much happened in the morning, after Aiden woke up from his nap we headed off to The Frank Slide Interpretive Center.
They did some remodelling a couple of years ago and none of us had seen it yet. We had a great time although we didn't get to see everything because they closed - and we needed to head to leadership training at the church anyway.
After the broadcast my Mom and Dad went to Tim Hortons's in town and picked up a feast! We had so much food. My Dad wanted us to try their chili - It really is quite good! but we also had buns, hot chocolate, pop, mini donuts, donuts and caramel apple fritters. Mmmmmmm.
Church on Sunday. It was the day for the Primary Presentation. Hard to do with only 2 kids who aren't even old enough to read yet, but they did it and my Mom did a great job planning it. A lazy afternoon at home and then back to Calgary.
Winter has definitely arrived.... we are loving our garage! I just had to say that. I also love watching the people come shovel, well blow, the snow off our driveway and walkway every day, although, I must say I do feel bad for them and a little guilty. But that doesn't mean that I am about to go do it. After all, we don't own a shovel ;)
